With more than 50 books written across four languages—English, Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi—and over 5,000 published articles to his credit, Shah has firmly established himself as one of India’s most prolific and insightful literary voices.

A journalist with an exceptional eye for detail and a deep understanding of human behaviour, Praful Shah is widely respected for his ability to uncover powerful real-life stories. Backed by years of experience, a vast network of sources, and meticulous research, his writing brings together unusual characters, forgotten heroes, and unbelievable yet true situations. His work consistently bridges the gap between investigative journalism and compelling storytelling.

Currently, Praful Shah writes regular columns for some of the country’s most respected publications. These include Mumbai Samachar, Asia’s oldest newspaper with a legacy of over 205 years, Gujarat Mitra, a leading daily from Surat, and the prominent Gujarati newspaper Divya Bhaskar. Over the years, his columns and articles have explored a wide range of subjects—crime, social justice, history, patriotism, and the everyday struggles and triumphs of ordinary people.

Shah’s literary contributions span multiple genres, including novels, docu-novels, political thrillers, social commentaries, and true-crime narratives. His notable works include 101 Sons, a novel addressing the plight of parents; Life IMpossible, which focuses on real-life struggles; File K, examining the common man’s response to terrorism; Cyber Savdhani, highlighting cyber fraud and digital risks; and Kachchh File, a docu-novel on crime, culture, and journalism in Kachchh, later published in English as Cactus Crime. Many of his books have been translated into multiple languages, significantly expanding their reach.

One of his most impactful works, Sarhadno Supercop, vividly portrays the extraordinary bravery, intelligence, and patriotism of a unique police officer from Kachchh. The English edition, titled Supercop of the Border, marked a major milestone with its launch at the World Book Fair, New Delhi. The release was graced by acclaimed filmmaker, actor, and writer Anant Mahadevan, adding prestige and national attention to the event. The launch symbolised the journey of a powerful Indian story from regional roots to a global readership.

Beyond books, Praful Shah’s creative influence extends to films, theatre, and digital platforms. Two thrillers based on his concepts and research—Posham Pa and Barot House—are streaming on Zee5. His research has also inspired a biopic on Gorkha soldier Bishnu Prasad Shrestha, currently under production. Additionally, two of his lessons are included in the Maharashtra State Board syllabus for standards 7 and 12, reflecting his contribution to education and social awareness.

Praful Shah’s work has earned him numerous prestigious accolades, including the Rashtriya Ratn Samman (2025), Best Crime Thriller (True Events) for Cactus Crime, the Shri Ramnarayan Pathak Award for Yuddh Kesari, and several national and international honours recognising his contributions to literature, journalism, and social consciousness.
